CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:
SLAMMERKIN Concert and Exhibition
We are collaborating with Toronto’s electro-low fi pop sister act SLAMMERKIN to celebrate art and music coming together. The musicians who make up Slammerkin have a very visual approach to their music. The majority of their music is inspired by the videogames and comics they consume. Slammerkin releases song lyrics sheets with visual art embedded in them. Liza and Sam are very excited to collaborate with visual artists in London Ontario for the opening night of the exhibition WARRIOR B!TCH.
WHAT: Take a listen to Slammerkin’s latest album ALL THE LAZERS ARE MINE and pick a song that you like and create a piece of work to showcase it. Alternatively, use the theme WARRIOR B!TCH as the inspiration for your project. Use any medium you want that can be displayed on the gallery walls (e.g., illustrations, paintings, short silent films: 5 minute max, ink, paper cut-outs, mobile that can hang from the ceiling etc).
WHEN: Please email us a submission that includes a 250 word max description of your project including the dimensions of your work. If possible, please include at least one rough sketch of your project by Feb 15th. The earlier you send your submission, the earlier we can confirm your spot in the show. The completed art must be dropped off to the gallery by March 21st.
The Exhibition will be titled WARRIOR B!TCH. The exhibition will hang in the gallery for two weeks. The band will choose their favourite piece from the collection and it will be displayed on their website.
To submit your work, and for any questions please email us: email@example.com.
Opening night for the exhibition will be March 24th. Gallery opens at 7:30pm and Slammerkin will perform their album with the concert starting at 9pm. All attendants for the concert must RSVP as we have limited space for the performance.
Bi-weekly instructor-less drop-in expressive art sessions.
How it works: Every month a new quote will be posted here on the Good Sport website. You can read it in advance to doodle/plan ahead or you can be spontaneous and just show up and dive in the night of. There will be two sessions dedicated to one quote, and the quote will be displayed in the studio space during each session. Bring your medium of choice and create your own beautifully unique artistic interpretation of the quote/theme alongside other artists. All skill levels and mediums are welcome and no need to share your work with others unless you want to. This is an informal artists’ gathering. These drop-in sessions are aiming to create a space where visual artists can come and be creative while practicing their skills together. This is a brand-spanking new project so, share with your pals and help us get the word out! See you there!
